Rob Radcliff @ TexasMan on Ray Roberts

Green Member: Rob Radcliff
Event: Texas Man Triathlon

Location: Lake Ray Roberts (15 minutes North of Denton, exit 483 off I-35)

Class (yours): 30-34

Results: 3rd in Age Group/23rd Overall

Local Knowledge and Conditions: An hour fifteen minutes to drive there so get up early. Great course, also the same course for Disco Tri in July. Swim is into the sun but water temperature was great. Bike is rolling and was into a head-wind for the first 10 miles. Chip seal roads but little to no traffic. Run was rolling out and back format. Nice finish area. Would be great for kids, a beach park with playground.

Pre-Race Strategy & Warm Up: A brief run followed by swim.
Psychology: I've been burned out since the Houston Marathon in January. It was nice to race again. Wish I could figure out some way to let it all hang out on the run and hammer it.
Future Goals: Sight better during the swim to make improvements in the pool actually transfer to race (easier said then done). Faster run off the bike.

Fitness: Bagel and breakfast bar pre-meal with cup of coffee. One gel during race. Hydration not an issue with low temperatures.
Funny thing that happened: Forgot my watch so raced without one. Dave Scott says he never raced with a watch, not sure I like it.
